Bargain Hunting

While checking out the vendors at this year's Caps Convention, I met the woman organizing Try Hockey for Free Day in partnership with USA Hockey, the NHL, the Washington Capitals, Let's Move! and One-Goal. It's happening this Saturday, November 5 at more than 430 locations across the country, including a few that are sort of in the Washington, DC area. This is a chance for kids ages 4-9 to try playing a little hockey before their parents lock them into six weeks worth of skating lessons they may not really want to take. (Although, if your kid ends up liking hockey, it's damn-near impossible to get them off the ice. Don't say I didn't warn you.)

You can register your kids here. And rinks interested in hosting a Try Hockey for Free Day on February 18, 2012 can apply to do so here. I'm looking at you Wheaton Ice Arena, Cabin John Ice Rink, Rockville Ice Arena and Kettler Capitals IcePlex.

So get those munchkins signed up! And someone let me know who's planning Try Figure Skating for Free Day.
