My guess is there isn't a mistake I could throw at Dmytri that he wouldn't be able to anticipate and respond to instantly. Thank goodness!MERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15570776337490015343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502532323050355692.post-64166165884384187692013-10-10T20:39:33.404-04:002013-10-10T20:39:33.404-04:00Yup it does feel weird to have them on the 'ot...Yup it does feel weird to have them on the 'other' side. I love your coach's line (in his sweet Russian English) about you not being able to make him fall. I think that's a point of pride for these guys. My ice dance coach is the same, he tries to minimize my worry about whether I might kick him or make him fall. We danced today for the first time since May and I was so rusty, plus learning a new dance that has an outside mohawk. I did a couple of really weird mohawks while we were skating the pattern, one was wild enough that if it were a little worse I imagine I could have fallen, taken him down, etc. So I understand how you feel. But we just have to conquer our fears, right? Because we can improve, and it really is fun when it works.Mary @ Fit and Fedhttp://fitandfed.net/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502532323050355692.post-31353953335858463292013-10-10T19:06:45.513-04:002013-10-10T19:06:45.513-04:00Oooh! Truth be told, I haven't attempted them since Ice Dance Test 2013...in July. Good luck and stay vertical!MERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15570776337490015343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5502532323050355692.post-57697598791741902532013-10-10T09:12:11.119-04:002013-10-10T09:12:11.119-04:00Yea, this is why I learn my dance patterns solo. I...Yea, this is why I learn my dance patterns solo. I may not cause him to fall, but I could certainly kick him. Or worse, he might make me fall. I was on a synchro team once for about 5 minutes. I fell and hit my head because my arms were otherwise engaged in a synchro hold. And I'm pretty sure I kicked the girl behind me when I fell. She only noticed the bruise after she made sure I didn't have a concussion. Did you know laying on the ice for long periods of time with nothing but a jacket as a pillow is hella cold? Cuz it is.

I was learning step behinds the other day. Scar.y. Coach simply says, if you fall, that's what skating's all about, you get back up and keep going. Easy for him to say...Qhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09305706048178256604noreply@blogger.com
